Welcome to Liberty Lives! #4 - Ocean View - Mayor Bonez and Sammysue
Bonez and Sammysue live fairly quietly up in the North area of Liberty. Elfin met them many months ago when they were looking for horses.
Married in real life they have found that playing Wurm enables them to be together when they are apart due to work.
Recently, Elfin took the opportunity to catch up, while sipping wine with them on the balcony of the Ocean View Inn.
The Interview
Bonez: “Well, I found Wurm a while ago...think it was on sale or something.”
Sammysue: “I started playing because Bonez asked me to. His job takes him away a lot, this let’s us hang out while he's on the road.”
Bonez: “Ya, I drive an 18-wheeler IRL...away from home all week. Oh, yes...it’s my tiny house on wheels.
“We kinda hang out on Liberty. I decided to try this game because the idea of completely sculpting the environment appealed to me.”
Elfin: “Was Sklotopolis your first server?”
Sammysue: “It's the only server I have played on.”
Bonez: “No...I popped in on the other big one...Mythmoor is it? It was very crowded anyhow. “Sklotopolis was the next. I was recruited to "Edge of the World" village...very nice people there.”
Sammysue: “Bonez talked about how great it was, and I watched him do a slaying once.
“I thought it was great that it was an open world with a warm community environment.”
Bonez: “Then I happened upon Starcrocthegreat and joined up with him. He became my mentor, so to speak.
“My Edge of the World time was very short because I didn’t have great internet on the road at that time.
“It was when I met Starcroc’ that I really started to get into the game.
“I talked Sammy into playing and Starcroc’ set us up really nice. With much better armour, a place to build our first little farm, mining access...just general guidance and purpose.”
Sammysue: “Starcroc’ is great. He helped us get started. He hooked us up with gear and weapons.”
Bonez: “Well, I don’t really play a lot of PC games and Wurm is seriously overwhelming at first. He basically showed us where to start to get skills levelled and such.”
Sammysue: “Yes it does seem overwhelming. When we started out with deeds on Novus we did it from scratch, the grinding is rougher.”
Bonez: “Starcroc’ Is a great friend on here, though we don’t see him much lately.
“Anyhow, once we figured things out, we decided to move north and kinda stake out on our own and founded Ocean View.”
Sammysue: “Building Ocean View has been awesome.
“Bonez and I make a great team. He plans out the projects, and does most the building. I gather materials and assist.”
Bonez: “I can’t give Starcroc’ all the credit though, you have been a huge help to us and most others I believe as well.
“I’m not huge on the tedious skill grinding and gathering. I enjoy planning and building and landscaping.
“We hadn’t been playing for long when Sammy wandered off into the woods by herself. Neither of us had the mini-map or knew about it. It took me like a half hour to find her while she was running for her life from mobs and freaking out. She wasn’t too far from deed but we were both running in circles...those were the early days.”
Sammysue: “Yeah, he rescued me. I hid out on a random deed in the woods ‘til he arrived.”
Bonez: Now we go hunt the big guys in Caza, that’s something we really enjoy doing now.
“I have a bit of a collection of Champion corpses from there now.
“I would like to form a bigger hunting party sometime to travel over there together.”
Sammysue: “I enjoy Caza a lot.”
Bonez: “Getting together with everyone to build Genesis was fun as well, I wish I could have helped out more than I did though.
“There is a great sense of community on Sklotopolis, which is a big thing that keeps us coming back I think.
“The Imp-a-longs, slayings, and my new favourite...the Rifts!”
Sammysue: “Rifts are great. I like killin’ stuff.”
Bonez: “The best part is hanging out with my best friend Sammy, who is also my wife, in case anyone didn’t gather that.
“Yes...10 years!
“It’s just the two of us...and a few alts we use as slave labour.
“There is Bonezz and Bonezzz...original I know. They are pretty irrelevant though. They are just labourers...when I have big terraforming projects and such, and photographers sometimes.”
Sammysue: “My alts are Zippywippy and Ifonly.
“Zippy is our enchanter, and Ifonly doesn't really have a thing yet. Zippy also holds the deed for our other deed, Northshore Hideaway.”
Bonez: “Yeah, that’s our other deed down the road, east from here.”
Sammysue: “I needed a better mine, and it just sort of grew from there. I went off on my own kinda. I founded it then Bonez helped build it.”
Bonez: “We are going with a different vibe there. Ocean View is leaning more towards a port town...lots of building left to do here though.
“Northshore is more rural and natural. We are trying to stay with more natural landscape and forest theme.
“Both deeds are still major works in progress.
“There is never a shortage of things to do on Wurm.”
Sammysue: “Yeah I've always got several things going on at once.”
Bonez: “Same here...I tend to start things and then start something else and then come back to the first thing...a bit scatter brained.
“I plan to build much more in Ocean View...should resemble a town eventually.
“I play around in Deed Planner a lot. Next big project is a museum for all my dead things lol...that will be built along the water next to the hotel.”
Sammysue: “I see a place that’s community friendly. We have an Inn and harbour that’s open to the public.
“We are planning a museum, and we have a life size chess board.”
Elfin: “I have stayed a couple of times when passing.”
Sammysue: “Nice.”
Bonez: “That’s cool to hear! I didn’t think anyone stayed there, that’s really awesome.
“I think it would be cool if players sailed from Novus when travel is open and landed in our harbour.
“They would find a warm bed at the Inn and usually a meal there as well, and a "Howdy" if one of us is around.”
Sammysue: “We also have a chapel in the Inn and a love tile for meditating on the property.”
Bonez: “And maybe the inspiration for new players to build a great place of their own. The possibilities are pretty much endless.”
Sammysue: “We are grateful for the Great GMs.
“They have helped us out a couple times. They take very good care of everybody.
“They helped me with a cart situation once.
“I took a cart to Haven and discovered I didn't have proper permissions to take the cart off-deed. “Croc’ got a GM to come and unlock it for me.”
Bonez: “I lost my good enchanted shovel on another deed once, I threw it while trying to use bow and arrows and couldn’t pick it back up ...it was returned to me within 10 minutes.
“I gave up on ranged weapons shortly after that. My large maul is sooooo much more effective anyway.
“It was great that someone took the time to help.”
Bonez: “Now we would love to show you both deeds”
Sammysue: ((HUGS))
The Tour
Bonez: “Welcome to Ocean View!”
As soon as the introductions and pleasantries were over the tour began.
But first a selfie!
Sammysue: “Ok, so we will start in the main house.”
Bonez: “The manor. It’s messy in here.”
Sammysue: “We don't have a lot of decorations but this is the main floor. Kitchen/dining room, and sitting room.
Sammysue: “Onto the second floor. Over here we have the area where I do tailoring and leather-working.
Sammysue: “This is the alts bedroom.”
Bonez: “Sammy is the decorator.”
Sammysue: “I wanna do a bit more.”
This is totally not a staged picture of Sammysue and Elfin I swear
Sammysue: “Up we go to the third floor.”
Elfin: “I love how you have lined up the wolf rugs.”
Sammysue: “This bridge leads to our bedroom."
Bonez: “I love the view from up here.”
Crossing over the short bridge into the master bedroom with a beautiful vaulted ceiling
Sammysue: "We have an alarm clock.”
Tomservo wonders how they adjust the hen for daylight savings
Sammysue: “Ok now we will show you the stables.
Actually we will go to the mine next.
This is our vineyard.”
We ran through the vineyard and down into the mine.
Sammysue: “It's nothin’ special. My main mine is on Northshore.”
Bonez: “Sammy's domain...I find mining to be a bit tedious.”
Elfin: “I see you have an underground room. Uh oh! Is it a crypt? (looks at corpse).”
Bonez: “Possibly a crypt, not sure.”
Sammysue: “Yeah it (the game) wouldn't let me build a bed down here. It was going to be another bedroom. Yeah, we wanna put in a cemetery soon.”
Bonez: “We can continue outside. Anyway...not much out here...except trees.”
Sammysue: “These are our ‘around the house’ horses. They like apples.”
It should be noted that feeding apples to horses in Wurm is a much better way of extending animals lifespan rather than placing five or more horses in a 1x1 pen with only packed dirt. It is true that you learn something new everyday in Wurm.
Bonez: “Two cart garage.”
Tomservo: “I love the garage, why haven’t I thought of that!”
Sammysue: “So, down here are the stables. Bonez does the breeding.”
Bonez: "This one was originally a dairy barn."
Bonez: “I am overrun with HH's. I need to expand the pasture.”
Sammysue: “We are working on getting Bonez to a 70 Fo so he can cast genesis.
Bonez: " This is the horse stable...a little apartment upstairs where Bonezzz lives.”
This room has everything a man needs
Sammysue: “We just have a few random sheep over here, and a horse. No problems with them gathering in a corner since we put them in a huge pen.”
Bonez: “This is town square. There will be more buildings here soon.”
Sammysue: “Ok, next the Inn. This is my favourite building.”
We walked inside and Elfin made a beeline for the bar
Elfin: “The bar with no service?”
Sammysue: “This side is food, haven't set up drinks yet. Sorry.”
Bonez: “Sorry, we're dry.”
Tomservo: “You won’t be soon.”
It should be noted that every inn we come across in our adventures receives two free barrels of whisky. Tomservo is absolutely not interested in the publicity he gains from this however check out my ad: WTS Self Service Liquor Store - Whisky, Moonshine, Gin, Rum, Brandy, and Vodka all 90ql+ Full wine barrels. Sammysue: “This side is the chapel.”
Sammysue: “The top two floors are rooms for travellers.”
Bonez: “Queen size beds and private balconies! The nightly rates are dirt cheap (free). Pet friendly as well.”
We moved down to the docks andforced asked Bonez and Sammysue to hop on one of their beautiful ships for another photo op.
Bonez: “When/if Novus is connected there will be room for visiting boats.
"
Elfin: “Is this where you set off to Caza?”
Sammysue: “Yes, we usually take the Knarr.”
Bonez: “This is the future site of my ‘dead stuff’ museum.”
Sammysue: “We like to embalm things. Wish there was a taxidermy skill.”
Bonez: “Here is my current ‘dead stuff’ display.”
Sammysue: “Not sure really how it began, but it seems to be a trend on liberty now.”
Bonez: “I wish I could pose them. The big ones came from Caza pretty much.”
Tomservo observes a rare Caza Kangaroo-man-bear-pig trimming the lawn for Bonez and Sammysue
Sammysue: “The chess board was all Bonez idea. I think its neat.”
Bonez: “I don’t know how to play chess...don’t tell anyone.
“Sammy sculpted all the statues. All I did was pave.”
Sammysue: “I used to play chess a little.”
Sammysue: “So this is the building where I do the cooking.
I also do the farming, I'm so close to 90."
Sammysue: “Out here I have a chicken coop.
"
An absolute necessity for this couple to ensure they are able to wake up on time everyday.
Sammysue: “That pretty much wraps up Ocean View.”
Bonez: “Northshore is down the road if you wanna mount up and see it.”
We mount up and prepare for a quick journey to visit another deed owned by our friendly hosts. But first a selfie!
On the way to the Northshore deed we stopped to admire a beautiful colossus of Vynora.
Elfin: “Was it one of your first builds?”
Bonez: “No...recent.”
Sammysue: “Our next one is going to be Fo. Out behind the main house.”
Bonez: “Next stop NorthShore Hideaway.”
Vynora has lovely hands
Bonez: “This is our other little getaway.”
Sammysue: "There isn't much here. We have cows, bison, and a bunch of horses.
“I haven't done any decorating yet."
Sammysue: “My alt built this deed - Zippywippy.”
Everyone say hi to Zippywippy
Sammysue: “This is my main mine. I spend a lot of time here.
“I want to work out a tunnel. My tunnel will span the length of deed from north to south.”
Sammysue: “This is the only building I designed. Bonez did all the rest."
Sammysue: “With that bridge I can park my horse and cart in my bedroom.”
Sammysue: “This is pretty much it for Northshore. We have a guest house, though it's not finished.”
Elfin: “What are your favourite parts of the deed?”
Sammysue: “The favourite part of the deed for me is: Northshore - the mine, Ocean View - The inn and chess board.”
Bonez: “I think I’m proudest of the inn/harbour area.”
Sammysue: “Thank you, this was so much fun.”
Bonez: “Thanks so much for visiting.”
Our hosts waved good bye and Tomservo rode home careful to avoid the canal that "should of been a tunnel" area. Elfin went to sleep at the Inn. Such comfy beds and five star service. Thanks again Sammysue and Bonez for your warm hospitality!
We made the journey north and arrived at Ocean View to find a welcoming committee.
Bonez and Sammysue greeted us warmly and made us feel right at home despite the heavy weapons we were brandishing. Sammysue was packing two axes, one for each of us we suspect. Bonez appeared unarmed, no doubt he felt safe with Sammysue there to protect him.
