Interesting scenario came up recently and I've heard some of you share similar stories in chat about it. Might be worth discussing and maybe consider adjusting the rules to foster a nicer community.
Say someone drops a one tile shed outside your deed, preventing you from expanding it in that direction. Lucifer (GM) confirmed that this is considered griefing, but I've heard players complain that this happens particularly in Novus and not a whole lot is done about it. However, if someone drops a starter deed using an alt and doesn't develop on it for months, just kinda keeps it active so that it stays up and prevents neighboring deeds from expanding... it's not considered griefing because it's not expressly written in the rules as such and is considered a "loop hole". It's interesting because the current rules on disbanding deeds (http://sklotopolis.freeforums.net/thread/2887/deed-disbanding-rules) say that a deed that isn't developed for 2 weeks can be disbanded, which obviously isn't happening in this scenario. Instead, it seems that the maximum delay in disbanding intended for very developed deeds (3 months for "Deed is / looks complete or high developed. Fully completed buildings etc...") is used across the board.
To clarify, I'm not talking about when people deed nearby and start living their best Wurm life, which isn't griefing and is sometimes unavoidable. That's a different scenario. This is just keeping a freebie deed "active" without actually using it for anything involving Wurm gameplay. Seems to me like we're giving a pass for griefing because it's not specifically written that way in the rules... but if it's causing problems for players and it's enabling bad behavior, it seems to me like an easy fix, one that won't leave players feeling frustrated hearing "our hands are tied".
Got a similar story to share? Thoughts? Suggestions? I'm curious to hear what you think!
