This short guide is intended to assist players who have never tried brewing beer or liqour in game before and need to know where to start.
There are a couple of basic overall steps you need to know first, each outlined in the respective section.
Making Beer:
The overall process for making beer is...
1. Create wort (discoverable recipe)
2. Ferment wort into beer (fermenting process is alot faster on Sklo vs WO)
3. Enjoy
What is Wort?
Wort is the first liquid you need to make on the path of creating beer. There are many different types of worts in the game, each creating a different series of beers. Most of these wort types are discoverable, so enjoy figuring them all out
- Wort
- Wort with hops
- Wort with lots of hops
- Wort with ginger
- Wort with sassafras
- Wort with wheat
- Wort with wheat and apple
- Wort with rye
- Wort with oat
- Specialty Wort
How do I create Wort?
You need grains, water, sugar, and herbs. Some worts require hops for the herb while others will take any herb. Some worts require specific grains or a combination of some grains. For example: Barley for one, while another needs Barley + Wheat. The grains to select from are Barley, Wheat, Rye, and Oat. You'll place these ingredients into a cauldron that's in a lit oven.
There are special worts that will take additional ingredients.
How much Wort should I create?
This is preference, but here are a couple of examples. if you're looking to fill a specific container.
To fill a cauldron:
You'll need roughly: 62kg water, 15kg barley (50), 0.50kg sugar (5), 1 herb. The 50 barley can be substituted for the other grains needed. For example: 25 wheat, 25 barley.
To fill a wine barrel:
You'll need roughly: 35kg water, 30 barley (or 15 wheat, 15 barley for example), 3 sugar, 1 herb.
With these amounts, you'll have a little left over.
By adjusting the percentages of the ingredients you can scale your wort into anything in between or less if you're just making a test batch.
Fermentation:
A very important part of the beer making process is fermentation. Once you've made your wort, pour it into a small wine barrel and place it on the ground or in a barrel rack. Then, you'll use a wood scrap to seal the barrel. The wood type will determine the final product. If you use a fruit wood type (cherry, lemon, orange, apple, or olive), you will get malt vinegar. There are alot of beer types on Sklo, and each wood type for each wort will allow you to see all the combinations.

Making Liquor:
The overall process for making liquor is...
1. Create unfermented liquor
2. Ferment into undistilled liquour (fermenting process is alot faster on Sklo vs WO)
3. Distill into finished product (distilling process is alot faster on Sklo vs WO)
4. Enjoy
Much of the process is the same as making beer, with the addition of distilling. First, you'll create your unfermented liquor. There are many combinations of this and some are already in your cookbook by default. Examples of liquor in game are Gin, Vodka, Moonshine, Brandy, and Rum. Once you've made the unfermented liquor, pour it into a small wine barrel and place it on the ground or in a barrel rack. Then, you'll use a wood scrap to seal the barrel. When it's done fermenting, you'll have an undistilled liquor which needs distilling before it can be drank. You'll take this undistilled liquor and place it into a still, light it and watch the finished product flow. Asmentioned previously, the distilling time is alot faster on Sklo so you can expect to distil a batch of liquor in a few hours.

Making Wine:
The overall process for making wine is...
1. Create unfermented wine (known recipes to everyone)
2. Ferment into wine (fermenting process is a lot faster on Sklo vs WO)
3. Enjoy
Very similar to other alcohols in the game, you'll need to first make the unfermented version of the liquid. There are a few wine recipes in the game.
White Wine
Red Wine
Rice Wine
Each type you swap an ingredient to make that particular kind of wine. To make the unfermented wine, here are the steps:
1. Create Maple Syrup (Maple Sap + Cauldron / Sauce Pan + Oven)
2. Create Juice / Rice
a) Red Wine requires Blue Grape Juice. Blue Grapes + Fruit Press = Blue Grape Juice
b) White Wine requires Green Grape Juice. Green Grapes + Fruit Press = Green Grape Juice
c) Rice Wine requires Cooked Rice. Rice + Water + Sauce Pan / Pottery Bowl + Oven = Cooked Rice
3. Combine the necessary ingredients into a Wine Barrel and seal with a wood scrap. Remember, that using a fruit wood type scrap will yield vinegar, much like with beer and malt vinegar. So, you'll want to use a different wood type.
After a few days of fermentation in the wine barrel, you'll have wine! Enjoy!
Happy Brewing!
