I know Novus will stay separate "until players have caught up" i notice that there are already players with 70 skill in a few things. me included kinda kills the argument of it being hard to catch up anyway, to my question; when it IS integrated, which server edge will it join? will caza be used to separate us? i know it's technically irrelevant because we can plot a course, it's just nice to know where i'll end up when i fall asleep sailing

I actually like that idea - of Caza separating Liberty from Novus

Can Novus be made South of Caza?

I like the idea of waiting a lot longer before we join up and having a vote on whether we actually want to join them together. I remember on WO when Pristine and Release got connected both servers basically died

The intent was always to connect them, and they should, I think. I think it should be 6 months - and I like the idea of Caza being the "space" between them.

I've seen reference to "might be six months, might be a year and a half", so there's probably a bit of time to debate this. To me, it feels like having an entire server like Caza between Liberty and Novus will put a real hurt on any trade between the two populated servers that is not purely mailbox based. Having to waste the time sailing all the way across Caza just to get to Novus would remove any interest I had of ever visiting Novus.

My Friend and I love the idea. Would make Trade adventures an actual event and not just some loading screen and then we are magically there. It would take some real planning ahead of time to make sure the journey was going to be profitable for us.

I wish "plot course" was disabled. Both sailing and plot course are broken. :S

Personally I prefer a year at least before connecting the two

I think a year might be too long - 3 - 6 months gives the new Wurmians time to establish themselves (ppl already at 70 skill I've read) without worry of high level Liberty toons invading.
As far as travel - I still think keeping a "gap," i.e., Caza, between them would be more fun then just "bam" you're there.

I personally like the idea of keeping them seperated to at least 6 months. While yes some people already have a skill or two at 70 think of how many Liberty players have server skills at 90+. Don't think it would really fair to the completely new to game or even the new to server players that don't have mains from liberty to bring over or loads of materials stacked up to bring over for that matter to open it up any sooner.

To keep things simple; we vote. A poll should be held by a GM next month (or when ever the Admins decide) with incremental time: Example: 1. 3 months 2. 6 months 3. 9 months 4. 1 year 5. 1.5 years 6. 2 years 7. NEVER The majority of people should decide the fate of these servers not just a few users. Debates can start there but lets not cut our throats

It will be at least six months then after that I believe Dom said that the connection would only happen if the community votes on it. I don't think the plan is to just connect it at 6 months it could be a year or more or less.

A very very FEW people may be at 70 on the new server but they are a rare few. The vast majority of Liberty players are in their 70s-90s.
Many of the people on Novus are brand new to Wurm. Many picked up the Humble Bundle deal, and are giving Wurm a try for the first time. They are awkward, they are slow, they are often confused, and it is fresh and charming again. It may take some of them six months to a full year to figure out how to get to 70. I know people on WO who are still not to 70s after five years, not everyone is in a rush to the top. Even with a hunting server between, people can simply mail over uber 95/95/95 tools, and most have 99Q knarrs and will think nothing of sailing through two servers tin order to ferry over their most talented 99 skill crafters. A week after opening the new server, you have wiped out any thing personal about the server and it is again mostly the playground of a few uberskillers, who now have the entire markets on BOTH servers pretty well locked down. Everything is hyper hyper hyper. While there is some roads on the new server now, bring over some 99 skill terraformers and it will be crisscrossed with culdesacs again in no time.
The only advantage to opening traffic between the servers is to provide superskilled veterans on the old server, a fresh new market they can dominate, and a chance to move over crafters and resources to quickly duplicate their Liberty setups. I happen to LIKE being on a rustic swerver where most of the skills of myself and my neighbors are still hovering closer to 30-40 and even the "experienced" players who offer guidance, are still not super characters. I have played WO since 2011 and these rustuc beginnings are about the only thing now that keep the game fresh and charming for me. Personally I think Sklotopolis would have been better served with something like 3x/3x skill rates but that is something too late to change now. I have actually been trying servers with a slower skill rate with the idea of permanently changing servers, and I would probably leave Sklotopolis for one of those EXCEPT I happen to think Sklotopolis has the ONLY professional administration and the absolute nicest community. It's a rare situation that the other servers just don't have. Having Novus for at least a year is going to extend my interest in WU.
If every 2 years there is a new server that is quarantined for a full year, it would go a long way to keeping people attached to their deeds and characters and to Sklotopolis and to Wurm Unlimited in general.
Just doing it for 30 or 45 days and it is nothing anymore. Another server full of "new projects" that soon feel stale again.
