since the game does not seem to generate them lots of revenue anymore they drop it like a hot potatoe.
Main problem WU and WO is facing is that it is just not that appealing to the majority of ppl. This has multiple reasons going from graphics to just being to complex and time consuming.
Now pair that with CC's "ingenius" marketing "strategy" which consisted of not marketing the game at all and offering it on Humble bundle paired with borderlands back in 2017 for 1$ each which resulted in thousands of copies being stock piled for cheap and resellers selling the game for 50 cents it just can't create them much revenue anymore.
Its sad but thats how it is now and we gotta make the best out of it.
I think actually WU is better because as long as a few people want to play the game can go on for ages even after WO goes poof, which could be anytime. Other than the updates they choose to give us, WU can be customized however a server owner chooses. We can easily keep up with the updates as long as there are people who make mods.
It's very disappointing that Code Club wouldn't support their own product.
Yeah it is a horrible decision since there are at least as much unique players in WU as in WO or even more. So disappointing 50% of your customers just because you are unsatisfied about the income is not the best strategy business wise.
It is also not a good sign for WO Steam, showing potential new customers that they already abandoned one game before.
