I'm not sure if these should be two different threads or not, so I'll keep them together for now.
First, this is the initial notice that I intend to amend part or the Northern Highway on Liberty. The section of the highway that traverses Lamplight will be moves a few tiles south to line up with the path the highway takes through Dunkenwald, and will be continued at the axis as far East as I can. Additionally, I would like to have the four guard towers on-deed removed, so that I can build new ones that are more optimally spaced for those who might need them, and to removed them from my building plans on deed. I do not expect to be paid for the new towers, as they were already paid out, and I don't need to be paid for any additional that are built, so I won't be posting that request in the Silver sub-forum unless needed as a formality by staff.

Secondly, I'd like to start documenting changes to Lamplight as things occur, so I will use this thread to discuss those; assuming that is appropriate. Begin that write-up, now:
Lamplight, the Expansion
Lamplight has been my home for nearly four years here on Sklo. It started as a wooded glade where I had a frontier-style fort surrounded by farms and animal pens. As I expanded, I fought a war of attrition with the Cedar forest around me, eventually clearing the land all the way to Liberty's northern coast, and Lamplight officially became a coastal village. At the time, the deed was part of the Northern Stars alliance, with Ennofillias and a few other players who mostly spoke German (Including Dragun and I believe Snidor). As time went on, I started terracing the land towards the ocean to have a more agrarian feel, though breaks from the game for real life reasons kept me on the losing side of the war with the trees. Eventually, I discovered that packing the ground made it harder for trees to spread, and I finally started making and maintaining headway. The biggest problem at this point was that I hadn't figured out a way to build a mine on-deed.
There was a year break after I had a series of life-threatening surgeries, and I planned and planned the new concept for how to solve this problem, and read up on the wiki how exactly to handle surface mining and building mine entrances near the ocean. Luckily, during this break was when digging to carts was enabled; so when I came back, I started making huge leaps in progress. Unfortunately, around this time is when I finally figured out exactly how I wanted to lay things out in the new phase. After digging and placing hundreds of thousands of dirt, maybe more, I now would have to start moving in a different direction. The deed was expanded from the rectangle traversing North to South along its dominant axis to one traversing East to West along the dominant axis after the land next to me became available. With this change, the road I had been working on forever to connect the Northern Highway to the Coastal Highway would become the main road through the deed. Thankfully, this very project was one of the ones made easier by dig-to-cart changes.
So, now I am looking at removing dirt for two large plateaus, and then raising rock surface height to create a uniform area for an extensive boat- and cart-accesible cave under the dirt area above that will house farms and animal pens. I have to cut all the trees on the new half of the deed, and dig all the dirt. Then I have to use concrete in pyramid-raising to the proper height and dimensions, before laying a thin layer of dirt backe down. Afterwards, I need to start work on the underground area so I have a place to store all that dirt and wood. Once that is complete, I will have to go through the whole process again on the initial side of the deed, to create the uniformity I will need.
I know this has been a novel, and most people won't care. But I'd like to figure out how to take screenshots to show off the progress as I move forward, since I actually have a tangible plan this time and it's not just by the seat of my pants. Screenshots to come!
