We have the hardware to launch multiple new servers so a xanadu sized server would probably not be a problem (I dont know how performance would be but theoretically it is possible) but I think an 8k map would just be too big for our needs. Although it rly is tempting to have such a huge map it would more likely turn into a single player game on that server. For the maps we use World Machine. I would be rly curious to see your maps btw if you would like to show them. What about monthly(unsure on the schedule) caza resets with new maps each time? But keep it like caza (tougher enemies, special enemies(valrei/rift), ofc odd critter spawns like conditioned hell/horses/sheeps etc and still no deeding. )
Or second caza, while keeping old map, with this change of map idea, unsure how quickly you got new maps generated. Maybe allow deeding on caza 2.0 with 5x5x5x5(or bigger with enough citizen, temp villages might be nice) and no guards. Which will then get reseted/removed with new map.
PVE Gamemode ideas in regard to caza:
-Maybe with some preset goal (stupidly hard ofc) and 1 hota statue as price per map. (1-x free hota statues per year, depending on map frequency). -Most kills in a given time frame, could that be tracked and counted? Most kills with a certain enemy, etc? Leaderboards might be cool
Im no fan of wurm pvp, so im out on that decision. It is fun when done in an event (hunger games were really great) but beside that im out on that topic. Many gamemode ideas might be applied to PVP tho.
Capute the Flag, King of the Hill, Battle Royal, Hunger Games, Team Deathmatch, Deathmatch...
Fresh start pve server which will reset after a few month do sound interesting... would be nice to be able to go there with your current character. (No skill transfered, get there, have no skill, titles, etc return and get your everything back + NO skillgain transfer like they tried to WO jackal, just to participate and get the everyone new experience without making a new char each time)
If a new permanent pve server gets added could it be made stupidly huge, 4 times xanadu huge.... unsure on what map size would actually break wurm lol. (that might be my intended limit here... ... ) And no payment for roads/towers on those new servers, to keep them wild longer?
Merge liberty/novus and add new land mass equal to nov/lib size to the remainding map to fill it up ... i doubt it can be merged... would be a nightmare... so most likely just a stupid idea but i personally like the big map idea
What about map changing events? werent meteorites and vulcanos a thing on epic? might be something for a reseting server
Just some ideas and thoughts.

Lol if you hit this point you just keep the char data and burn the rest. That said when nov was added it was the most fun for a while so not against a new map...but as i said earlier i think it should be lots of little islands.

After this awesome WO release on steam, we should see, how many players will try WU. We have a lot free space on both servers, i prefer high activity on a server instead a ghost server. Was enough alone on caza for hours😂. I like hermanns idea of a caza 2.0. Perhaps with different events each month. But if we get a lot new players, we should talk about a new way to earn silver, because the pament for infrastructure isn't available on lib, and i think, novus will be at the same point soon.
Sure, a pvp server would be nice, but i think, it should start as a separate one, with monthly reset. We have a lot player here without pvp experiences, so they could learn the basics and the devs could figure out the economy, sorry but on dungeon, the old pvp server here, you made money etc. too easy.

Yes, fresh maps draw in new people, but then the situation where every new player was being funneled to Caza for so long left Liberty pretty empty. I know I complain about you kids keeping off my lawn a lot, but honestly Liberty can feel like a ghost town at times. As more PVE maps with deeds get added, the population is going to spread out thinner and thinner. This means longer travel times just to interact with a "neighbor", making it kind of a solo game except for things which fit into the mailbox.
A Xanadu size serve is probably a bad idea for the same thin population. In fact, if you're opening new lands up to draw in new players or excite existing players, rather than create a 4x size map (??), make a normal size one, then open three more space out a year or so apart so that you're constantly adding new shiny to Sklotopolis.
I admit, however, I am perhaps not the right target audience for a new server. I've put a ton of time into my deed and my skills, yet my to-do list is not even close to finished, so moving to a "fresh start" for the challenge probably wouldn't entice me.
Now what I think would be an awesome server would be a giant marketplace where people could use stalls in the main area, and even buy one tiny deed each (5x5 maybe?) in a set grid pattern around the marketplace for storing bulk goods and animals and whatnot. It would only really work if you could somehow portal there and back from on-deed portals we could built, or otherwise transfer items too heavy for inventory or too big for the mailbox, so unfortunately I think this would wade heavily into mod territory. Yes, some folks would be happy to sail back and forth on a regular basis, but for it to be a true marketplace you'd need access to every customer, and there are plenty of us folks who often don't have enough time available to sail long distances.

I think a PVP server would be nice,but a permanent one;not a temp one that gets wiped out;Caza size I would think would work;Pvpers would know better though. Have it portal access,in a small safe zone(Dont know if it should be fresh start all skill reset there;or taking whatever you can carry with you)If ship sailing start no safe zone provided.)It will also allow everyone the chance to use their locked skills such as lockpicking - stealing and such to level up. Thought this was good to,no paymetns for anything on this server,you are there to fight and live,not make money.
Also maybe have an Event/hunting Island;were all events such as Uniques,rifts and such are now held only,NO Chests(not a Caza remake). It would be nice to do something like with NNH as a beach head and move out from there,were we the players build the zones and such.(also only management approved deeds,that would be used to hold the events,with the appropiate buildings- NO other buildings should be able to be built only tents droped. Again not a Caza remake.)

yeah a pvp server was nice, without payed towers or highways, in the same size as liberty and novus, on pvp all must build towers, to make the kingdoms bigger xD,connected after 3 month to the other servers.
and a smaller tutorial server was also a good idea i feel

Even if the money I've spent on my deed is refunded, I'd lose a truly massive amount of materials, not to mention untold hours mining and terraforming. A server wipe seems like a good way to get people to throw up their hands and quit. Not to mention that people who return to find everything gone are far less likely to stay logged in.

I'm so used to other games that do periodic wipes. Maybe then a new island that resets once a year. New land mass, terrain, etc., but skills remain.

The beauty of wurm is that it doesn't need to wipe. People flock here for a greater level of permanence that can't be found in any other sandbox game. Slowly building something that will be an online home for a decade or more is exactly what we want.
Naturally not everyone is an architect, alot of people don't care about loosing their builds because they're more into grinding their skills up and making money. But i would argue, the most creative amongst us would rather play a different game if there's going to be a wipe.
Wurm is special because we don't have to worry about that within the life of the server.
A pvp server that wiped might be fun (the surface not the chars or inventory) pvp builds are designed to be threatened. Can't put too much love into them. Instead, alot of strategic thought. but i could be horribly wrong. I'm not a wurm pvp'er

On a fast paced PvP oriented game (like Rust) periodic server wipes make sense. Wurm is surprisingly grindy game with surprisingly little given freely. Regular server wipes don't make much sense in my head for a PvE map. I think resetting Caza and making it a PvP oriented hunting map with limited deed protection (e.g. deeds are not shown on any maps but are invulnerable for set amount of time to allow some building and defenses to be added, after which the protection goes away and it can be raided). However this would be fun only if there is something to gain from it.. No one will bring their hard worked items there just to brag..
How about a war-event server? Wipe Caza, or make a new server for this purpose, give players some time to form alliances, build their deeds, make traps, defenses and wage war for a set amount of time and then just leave it as is and turn PvP off or limit it to a certain region. I'm not sure if skills should carry over (probably yes, but that would give the veterans a strong advantage which as to be considered but I don't think every veteran will just choose to band together to pub-stomp the rest) but I think tools and materials (gear etc.) shouldn't be allowed to be brought from other servers. Ferry/portal service to make sure no one tries to bring stuff from other servers to gain an unfair advantage?
I think on this war-event server the veteran and new players alike would have fun and it will be grand ol' time to go adventuring it after the "Great War".

Don't kill Caza, it's the only real mobland we have! XD
Now a server 1/4 Caza size with very intentional natural (and/or built?) chokepoints that can be reset whenever without pain... could make for a good event arena, both PvP (CTF, king of the hill and such) and PvE (First five to reach the center get the loot/defend a spot, the GM's went utterly manic spawning evil stuff). If it were portal-linked would make for longer events, ppl gotta get there and HURRY to mine ores to gear up and beg the enchanters 24hrs before the actual event starts. Since no items xfer it would allow staff to throw uniques at us without saturating the blood/dragon armor supplies.
