Wiping anything currently in game would be a huge mistake. And if I know the devs well enough I know they would never. So much work has been done and so much history good and bad would be wiped for what reason? They have already said they could support multiple new maps. Wiping is just a troll comment.
Anyway as for suggestions I know this goes against everyone else but I feel itโs time for for a new map. But a new map that is connected. I remember in WO when they launched the first new maps and Freedom became Independence. I wasnโt a new player but also I wasnโt a veteran either. It was fun to load up and move to somewhere new and hadnโt been built on for years before.
I think pvp server is a bad idea. It would be great if you could somehow ban most mods on the pvp server and make it more like WO. The mods we have now just ruin pvp other than the fun events we have every now and then. Also the pvp server we had for a time seemed to really take up a lot of GM time. It was too tempting for people to macro and find other ways to cheat. It felt like a drain on staff time tbh.

I think a connected PvP server would be a nice addition. Like Dextrome mentioned, skills could transfer but not items. That way, PvP is optional.
I myself don't like pure PvP servers, but it would be nice to have the option to go to a PvP server every now and then when I'm feeling particularly spicy.

I am not a fan of pvp. To have pvp would exclude so many players. My limited experience of pvp on other servers has shown me, that with pvp comes a mean spirit and attitude which overflow into pve. The take destroy,then take some more. Finally imploding.
A New server. Wow - possibilities are mind-blowing. Divided into areas each presenting a different PVE challenge. Solo or teams working their way through each vallley, mountain or mine. Wiped and new challenges set. I am seeing this as a great opportunity for us to have a version of Wurm that is infinite and FUN. Thinking outside the box there ( pun intended ).

Cheers everyone. I haven't played WU for the last 6 months - everything just became a bit static and repetitive. A new server with an interesting topology might be able to peak my interest again. I really enjoy the process of taking an untouched piece of land and turning it into something interesting and unique. Just my two cents as an ex-player that just handed over his deed due to inactivity

Wiping Liberty or Novus is not an option. Wiping Caza is also unlikely.
Additional servers are an option though.

Personally I think something with crazy steep/close together mountains could be neat/fun to have interesting use of bridges/mountain roads OR As someone else said, a bunch of little islands would be neat as well I think. OR As mentioned a frequently reset smaller hunting map could be interesting to keep it fresh I like all those ideas, I've been working insane hours this summer but hopefully will start to get days off again soon in the near future and look forward to whatever new idea we end up with

I have been asking for pvp for 5 years almost Simply due to the fact that i have wanted Lib fully installed. Pvp is something that takes thought though, and i am curious how Sklo and team will try to work this. Epic features, or like my home on Chaos. Artifacts enabled? Reset like old pvp servers use to? They are right though, there is a risk factor to playing pvp. I have watched players lose a lot of things. I have watched players come out ahead. In the end, it is all about how you wish to play the game. The biggest misconception about Chaos on WO, is that you sit and just fight. Most communities have the players that literally sit and grind skill to provide for those that actually wish to Raid and Defend.

Well, like it was stated, a PVP Server would limit the Mods (EPS) and its quite hard to sort out the "cheater". But that aside, i see that my idea of an server, where building material is rare is not an good one. Thats more an idea for a mod for an SP game, not an MMO Serperatetd small islands sounds fun, and if there is no more room left, we could see, if we start another one.

Right, there's no way to really moderate mods for a pvp server, didn't think about that :/
I personally only see ESP as being a real issue? I suppose if everyone uses it, it's still "fair" though? But yeah, it completely removes any possibilities of being sneaky or stealthy...

tom wrote it perfectly. with mods, pvp isn't realy pvp, it's more like a "who has the most/best mods". sure, you could say, if someone play without mods, it's not my problem, but it's not funny over a long time, for both sides... and yes, there are a few possible ways, to make mods like the esp unusable, but all this "edits" in the code, would generate performance drops... but there a lot of possible exploids too, which you would give a advantage for the pve server. just an example with the affinities... you could create thousands of char on a other account, sail to the map and let kill them by your main to steal the affinities.

The problem with a PVP server is that if you code a better way to stop ESP and other mods, someone will just code a better mod. Just like with MMOs, it's always a race to stay ahead of the dedicated cheater.
I for one would rather our devs spent their time focused on something else, either something which will make the game more fun for all or -- quite frankly -- doing any activity in their lives other than competing with cheaters so that ultimately our devs do not burn out and stop enjoying what they do.
Just look at how much effort had to go into making chests work. From things I've seen elsewhere, I don't want to imagine how much more there would have to be in order to keep mods and actual cheating out of PVP.

For a server that resets regularly, I think a hunting server would be good for this. People can't build permanence there anyway. Every X months, they get a chance poke around, find new areas, and try not to die too many times to the hordes of monsters running around. It might even work better as a smaller map which is refreshed more frequently. The devs get to enjoy making and trying more maps (perhaps even having a map competition occasionally). The players who enjoy the exploration are regularly seeing new areas. The people who just want mobs to kill will still get to find them. Plus the junk people leave around from old treasure chests or constructions or whatever else will be cleaned up on a regular basis. (Different post since it's a different sub-topic.)

Here is a small mockup I made. Dont rly like it that much but to give you a general idea on how a new fully custom map would look like: The tundra, steppe, etc is just randomized and would not be that small in a final version.

Okay since this joke idea has been requested to be put forward the idea is,
Full rock island. 1 starter town (central location) with some of every type of tree, clay, tar, peat. No other dirt on the whole server. (aware sand would have to be handled some how. Maybe single use grab box or sign). You could not dig dirt/sand here, But you could gather sprouts. No import of dirt (by ship or mail) from the other server. (A check would have to be added to block travel/mail if it contains dirt/sand).
Side note this was not intended for new chars.
EDIT, To be clear only the starter town would be no dig (since someone asked but how would we level if we cant dig once fo gives us dirt).
