Hi everyone. I don't know if this has been posted but I found it helpful and have talked to others who would like it.
The first step is super important, as it backs up the graphics.jar file. If something doesn't work, you can revert back without having to redownload wu client from steam. Not every computer I try this on works for some reason.
1: Open C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Wurm Unlimited\WurmLauncher\packs
2: Make a copy of graphics.jar called graphics-original.jar
3: Right click and Save As this map file and name it Ocrea.png
4: open graphics.jar with a zip handler such as 7zip
5: open folder gui
6: open folder testMaps
7: Drag and Drop Ocrea.png into testMaps
8: close the graphics.jar archive
9: Run wurm and enjoy the map.
You can add private and village notations on the ingame map. In many ways I still prefer the livemap but this can be made nicer with the proper annotations. I'm looking into how to get rid of the original village annotations which aren't actually part of the Orcea.png file that's erased. Enjoy.

Edit:
I've discovered how to get rid of the original creative random spawnpoint map annotations used.
1: Open C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Wurm Unlimited\WurmLauncher\packs
2: open graphics.jar with a zip handler such as 7zip
3: open folder xmls
4: Right Click mapunlimited.xml choose Edit
5: Below is the section of the file you need to delete. Delete the entire bit of text.
6: Save the file and close the archive.
7: Launch Wurm and enjoy.
