I think 6 months to a year would be good personally. There is no rush to connecting them. Novus is doing really well right now but it will take time to assess it's longevity and ensure new players aren't bombarded with the Liberty character skills and markets. While it may not be enough time for some, at least after this time there will be a community of Novus players up to par with Liberty's established environment. I also feel like we would want to reassess in 6 months anyway and might decide to wait longer depending how things are going. This probably shouldn't be a decision made anytime soon.

I think a year might be too long - 3 - 6 months gives the new Wurmians time to establish themselves (ppl already at 70 skill I've read) without worry of high level Liberty toons invading. As far as travel - I still think keeping a "gap," i.e., Caza, between them would be more fun then just "bam" you're there. Doing it too quickly before the Economy here in Novus has had a chance to get kicked off will only mean that those coming from Liberty will be the ones to dictate the economy in Novus. There would be no way for those of us new to the server to be able to compete in trade with those being able to craft extremely high QL wares. We came to this server with the promise of a fresh start and everyone being on the same playing field. That would be a lie if it was connected to Liberty to quickly.

After seeing how much progress people have made in just 1 week, I think 6 months would likely be a good time to join. It is mainly the slow mining skillgain that is holding people back right now with regards to tools/weapons. After that, it's only really enchants that will be slow to come.
Unless population numbers drop dramatically, I don't see people who started on Novus wanting to connect any time soon, while those on Liberty will want to connect as soon as possible. They don't really have any reason to want to merge.
I think it's mainly a case of wait and see. Lots can change in 6 months.

I play both Liberty/Novus - and for me the connection would be about making the world a bigger place, for both "server" communities.

Agree with Nettles 100% on every single point.

Well personally I'm of the 'wait as long as possible' camp-
I too like the chance for a fresh start where we have some chance of having a fair economy and getting set up before we have a 2+ year old server, filled with max level players and warehouses full of goods (ready to sell) open up, flood us with goods and devalue our goods/skills.
I can see the beauty of cross trade/exploration between servers but imho only once some equilibrium has been reached between the two.
Thats my opinion for what its worth. I'd like a chance to have this server develop and mature and form its own identity and economy before the floodgates open.
edit- I will add that thats my perspective from being a new start on the new server- if I were a trader on the other server I would be itching to open up a new market lol and increase my reach- In 2+ years if another new server opens and I am established here I would be on the opposite end of my current opinion for obvious reasons =P
edit 2- What would really be cool would be if there were resources that were unique to each server- I know thats not the case but would really neat if it were.

A very very FEW people may be at 70 on the new server but they are a rare few. The vast majority of Liberty players are in their 70s-90s. .... I 100% agree here. I don't have a ton of time to play in Wurm every single day. I will never be a 99 toon, I know that but I hope to be at least in the 70's. For a bunch of 99 toons to sail in and steal the show just doesn't feel right.

I want to see them connect - I just don't think it should be EASY. Hell, add a new hunting ground and make it Liberty -> Caza -> New Hunting Ground -> Novus

I'm very much of the opinion that we should give Novus 12 months to let its market get established. I for one feel that Liberty sellers would crush the budding market there.

Hell, add a new hunting ground and make it Liberty -> Caza -> New Hunting Ground -> Novus Was pondering that (with my inside voices) the other day..... What Oz said, add something between Novus and Lib. Maybe another large map as a "middle point" and dunno, give us ONE deed on that map that doesn't count toward the 4 deed limit so that we can have a lib-nov mixed server. Here's my map submission =P (Plenty of room for tweaking it yes)

I am not sure of the function of an "inbetween server where you can have one deed", as compared to simply positioning the hunting server CAZA between the two servers?
It's not like players need to stop-and-rest midway through their trip -- particularly if a primary goal is to make journeying between the two servers a bit more difficult.
Simply making CAZA the "pass through server" would accomplish any need for a "buffer"...? No body needs to stop and rest unless they want to, most people would simply sail on through to the other side.
However, this map would still make a nice contribution if Sklo decides to make "a fresh start server, very other year" a longterm goal for 2019, 2021, 2023 etc.

I agree one year should be enough for everyone to establish their skills, grow their deeds, design a business and plan their roads/towers. But I would like to see a poll when we are close to the year. should we leave a few more months extra over the year cap ? or when the year is "completed" or maybe never! After all, the fate of the servers should be determined by the community

Nettles says it so well. For me wurm is about pottering (taking it slowly) enjoying the journey. If I wanted pressure I would do more real life and less wurm. Loving Novus. Loving Liberty. LOVING Sklotopolis. ty to all Dev and players who make it so. Now how can I cook this new recipe..................oops rl time for breakfast hehe.
