The diagonal land bridge is still operational while the main bridge is under construction, so those who need to go there for religious reasons and to gather clay and tar can still bring their carts 
The main bridge will be arched stone brick, and the first of five segments was planned today and building is underway. Unless there is a way to shorten the time between planting the range pole, it will be about a week between segments being planned and built. The final bridge will be 3 tiles wide and will stretch from North Port deed over to White Light Island's south-western tip. Until it's finished, please don't attempt to cross it to avoid getting stuck or falling. The land bridge still works for crossing.
Once the main bridge is done, I'll (or anybody who wants to help) be dredging out underneath the bridge segments and through the existing landbridge to allow all manner of shipping traffic to flow south of White Light Island, instead of the northern route currently open.
Please bear with me, I'm working on it as fast as possible, and hope it will be wonderful for everyone once it is finished!

Once a bridge is complete you can't dig/dredge under the bridge. At least in WO you can't. So it would be best to do the dredging before you complete the bridge sections.

you need 20 dirt depth for the bigger ships like cog and caravel |

Like I said in WO you can't and it even gives you the warning when making the bridge you can't teraform under it. |

**Bridge update** DETOUR
Ok, so the second segment of the bridge is complete and dredged under. I also eliminated the initial portion of the landbridge and instead made a ramp from the second flat portion of the bridge down to the second part of the landbridge.
SO... shipping for shallow draft vessels south of WLI should be possible now! I've gotten the previous landbridge portion down to 7 dirts deep, so only knarrs and rowboats, etc can go for now, but I'll be dredging deeper for larger ships soon.
Also still working on the third section of the bridge, which is underway now. Thanks for everyone's patience! |

The third section of the bridge is now complete - Special Thank You to Shangxiq who provided a bunch of materials and completed a bunch of segments of that portion of the bridge! My hero!
The next section of the bridge should be planned shortly!

Does anyone know how high a bridge has to be for a ship to pass under it if the depth is acceptable?

Quick update: The bridge is now passable if you stay all the way to the left hand side, ALL the way across the last segment of the bridge! I'll be filling in the holes on the final segment (the right side and parts of the center) today and tomorrow, but have fun heading over to White Light Island without dealing with the landbridge! PS: Smashy/Kyklops (the bald one) was seen last night west of the bridge on the island, far enough away not to aggro, but please don't tempt fate and keep an eye out for him, he's fast! PPS: Guard tower guards and spirit Templars will NOT assist in killing Smashy or Fluffy (the one with the antlers and chest hair.) Fluffy is slow and you can run him off on a horse or cart, but Smashy will follow you until you jump into deep water and swim far enough away to be out of his (large) aggro radius. Be kind and tread water long enough to have him walk off still on the island, rather than running him back to the mainland. He won't leave you unless you jump in the water anyway There's no drowning on the server, so don't worry! PPPS: Please don't deed immediately past the bridge, I still need to connect the road upward to the actual White Light. I can go around things that aren't RIGHT at the edge of the end of the bridge, just gimme 10 tiles or so to make a nice looking turn - thank you |

Bridge is nearly finished, should be done tonight or tomorrow, with no more holes Next bridge is being built by Archimedes!
