What do you think of creating an Fete/Market Square? Having a place right next to each event arena. So at events players can set up a trader and/or priests to offer goods and services and generally entertain. I envision a large area where market stalls are dotted around. In each of the corners an alter - one for each deity - where priests can gather and offer their enchanting services. A couple of forges for the beefy blacksmiths to make horseshoes and sharpen swords. Keep the coins moving Early bird players to events then have opportunity to browse and buy. Players have an opportunity to sell and market. Much like the square market in medieval times. What do you think?

Isn't that the point of the markets in the starter towns? While I'm not against having a few stalls around for opportunists to hawk tents or weapons at a slaying they'll be quickly forgotten about like the markets in Newtown and Blossom.
I like the sentiment, but my inner cynic is telling me that this will basically wind up forgotten after a few slayings.

I think for a temporary set up of shop for the events, for the last minute shoppers right before an event, this is a good idea. Long term I think it's best to leave the shops to the market. But great idea for anyone coming to the event who might have forgotten to bring a tent, weapon, armor, etc. They'll have the option to get equipped.

Although these event markets would not be permanent. the merchants and such would only be there temporary as I understand it. While I might be a touch cynic, I think the idea is worth trying. I always see players checking for things in trade or complaining about the distance to the more established markets. Unique fights are community events and this is a prime opportunity for players to look for that item they are after. To often the events feel like an assembly line affair. Lets get it dead, get the loots and get home. A market fair is another reason for players to attend and possibly stick around after the fight is over. Why focus on just merchants. Players could use trade to say hey I got this for sale. Why not come down and see me at the drake fight. Personally I would be far more likely to sell something at event like this as I am far to lazy to keep up with a permanent merchant tucked in somewhere. This idea brings up the one issue I have always had with Wurm. This idea would be so so much better if there was a way for it to be made fully portable. right now in my mind its limited to merchant stalls or someone placing a small deed for the day to keep things secure. I would love to see in the future a way to make a wagon that you could display items for sale with a merchant on board. the addition of different type of merchant "stalls" would be excellent as well. Off the top of my head I could envision a table with weapons or armor set upon them for sale. Again with a merchant standing right there to trade the items or possibly the player who created the items. Bottom line, the only way will know if this is feasible is to try it out and see what happens.

I think this is a pretty cool idea. I remember before the days of permanent event arenas I would sometimes see players setup market stalls by the road at slayings to put their merchants in and I saw many people go have a look at what was for sale and even bought a few items myself. I think this could be a good opportunity for people to make some money and get things they need or forgot to bring with them to the event like tents or a shiny new weapon.

I say "what could it hurt?". Sounds like an idea to me.
