Hello,
Liberty being the older server, is infamous for the highway network to be less than ideal because it was largely built by inexperienced players.
I have a few stretches of the road running through my place and this one in particular is a bit of an eye sore.
In the image below, proposed detour for the duration of the works is marked with packed dirt on the left of the Highway i'm on:
The detour wouldn't be pretty but entirely passable (since we can't plant catseyes on slopes > 20 anyway).
It is only 4 tiles North of the existing highway.
Detour would run like so:
from: andistyr.github.io/wu-map/14816/#1737_2984
To: andistyr.github.io/wu-map/14816/#1905_2984
I didn't start flattening the detour route yet since it will take a good bit of work, in case i don't get the permission.
I guestimate about 100k of dirt will be used, which i already have, to build the pillars, including 20 slope safety tiles under the bridge connections so that vehicles don't fall through at that point.
Pillars will be connected with 2 tile wide flat marble bridges. I think i have all the marble bricks i'll need as well but if i run short, i have plenty of marble to make more.
I have more mortar than this project will require.
There will be a single ramp (a bridge as well, not a dirt ramp) to bring the players to the same height (1158 dirt above water) as the highest point at the crossroads on the East end of the road.
Lowest point currently: 396 dirt above water.
This is not a quick job. Flat-raising 12 corners to that height, plus the adjacent tiles where the pillar needs to be higher than the maximum 300 dirts, will take probably a few months.
On the upside, the road will be flat and each of the dirt pillars (after the highway is reconnected on the original route), will have ramps which will make getting off and on to the main route easy, every 36 tiles or so..
Once complete, the views from the bridges, close to 1k dirt above the surface, should be worth the effort and the highway will be flat, with the exception of the ramp at andistyr.github.io/wu-map/14816/#1737_2985
Kind Regards.
Mere.
<Edit>The current highway won't be disconnected until the detour is in place and fully connected, obviously.
